BEFORE MAKING THE DECISION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BRAZIL135 ULTRAMARATHON!

1. THE SELECTION PROCESS:
​
1. All applicants will be evaluated against a set of rules by our team judges.
2. All entry forms will receive equal consideration.
3. The considerations will be forwarded to the race director
4. The final decision on acceptance of registration will be up to the race director, Commander Mario Lacerda.
5. All entrants will receive an email from the race director with the final decision and considerations.

2. QUALIFICATION CRITERIA:
The Brazil135 Ultramarathon is not a race for BEGINNERS, therefore:
​1. For 135 Miles Distance:
1.1 It is Mandatory:
​
-
Have participated and finished in at least 2 (two) 100 or 100+ Miles;
or
-
Have participated and finished in at least 1 (one) Ultraman Race;
or
-
Finisher of 1 (one) race of 135 Miles.
or
-
Top 3 Big Dog's World Championship Backyard Ultra
For 2025, you are qualified If you are a Brazil135 Veteran, having participated and having finished at least 2 (twice), including one 80 Miles, and another category: 55 Miles, 2x Relay or 4x Relay, in any order or combination.

* Previous participation in Brazil135 Ultra as crew members will be considered.

1.2 Not Mandatory, but Good if you have:
​
a) A list of races that demonstrate the runner's ability to run on various types of terrain and elevations;
b) A list of races that demonstrate the rider's performance with minimal official external support;
c) Although Brazil135 is an event that qualifies for other international races, the main purpose of Brazil135 is to be a journey that allows runners to demonstrate resilience when faced with challenges and that can leave at the end of their run with a life experience that can be applied in everyday life. Therefore, the reason why you say you want to run this journey will be given significant weight.

If you are not accepted to participate in the 135 mile distance, we may recommend that you transfer your application to one of the shorter distances, 55 or 80 miles.

2. For the 80 Miles Distance:

2.1 Mandatory:
​
• At least 2 races of 50+ km
​
2.2 Not Mandatory but nice to have:
​
More than 2 (two) 100ks and several 50+ks and several Marathons. Even better if they are on varied terrains.

2.3. For the 55 Miles Distance:

1.1 Mandatory:

At least 2 (two) Marathons.

1.2 Not Mandatory, but nice to have:
​
More than 2 50k runs, some 50 Miles or 80 km. Even better if they are on varied terrains.

3. WHEN AND HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED?
​
If you have been accepted, you will receive an email from the Race Director, Mario Lacerda, on September 1, 2023.
If you have not been accepted, you will receive a phone call or WhatsApp call from the Race Director, Mario Lacerda, during the last week of August 2023.

4. BIBS:
​
A list of all accepted runners will be published on September 30th. It can be seen in the menu IMPORTANT TO KNOW/GUESTS 2024

5. YOUR SPOT:
​
There is no spot transfer in Brazil135. That means that the invitation to participation is only valid for the year you were invited.
​
​5. REGISTRATION FEES
​
a) Cancellation:
​
If you cancel your registration, once accepted, for any reason, there will be a retainer of U$300.00. The difference will be returned to the runner.
​
5.1. Brazilians:
​
To be considered invited, at least 30% of the total registration fee must be paid by September 20th. If payment is not made by
September 20th, the invitation will be canceled as we understand that the runner has not accepted the invitation. In this way, the runner's vacancy will be transferred to the next accepted runner on the waiting list.
​
The final date for payment in full is December 20th, 2023. If there is a lack of payment for more than 1 month, in the case of installment payments, the invitation will be considered as not accepted and the vacancy will be transferred to the next runner accepted that have been placed on the waiting list. In this case, there will be a refund to the runner in the amount of 50% of the total amount paid less U$25.00 (twenty-five dollars).

5.2. South Americans:
​
Due to the difficulty in wiring values between South American countries, South American runners can pay the registration fee on the day of the Pre Race Meeting.

Support from the Race Director Mário Lacerda:

1.0 - SUPPORT PLANNING YOUR TRIP TO BRAZIL
​
1.1 If you need help to arrange your support team with Brazilians, the Race Director Mário Lacerda will guide to get the right crew members: pacers. drivers and interpreter.
1.2 The Race Director will also supervise your deal with the Brazilians support team, to make sure that a fair deal will be done.

The cost for one person as a driver, pacer or interpreter is 50 US$ per day.

You can also rent a car, from your Brazilian driver or at the airport. In any case the prices have to be very close to each other.

We recommend that you get in Brazil on the Sunday before the Pre Race Meeting and leave Brazil one day after the race ends. The total number of days of your stay in Brazil will be around 8 days.

Your Brazilian driver will pick you at the airport and will drive you to the city of Águas da Prata where the race starts.

Your Brazilian driver will drive you back to the airport after the race ends from Paraisópolis city to the airport (GRU) from where you will leave Brazil.

2.0 SUPPORT BEFORE THE RACE : If you face any difficulties once you have landed in Brazil, and need assistance, the race Director will be available for you.
​
3.0 SUPPORT DURING THE RACE: If anything unexpected happens with your support team or support car, the Race Director will provide the means to help you to continue the race.
​
4.0 SUPPORT AFTER THE RACE: If you face any difficulty after the race and before you board back to your country, and need assistance, the race Director will be available for you.
​
5.0 - IMPORTANT:
​
5.1 Never hire a person to be part of your support team in Brazil without the clear consent of the Race Director Mario Lacerda;
​
5.2 You will be under the Race Director responsibility from the moment you land in Brazil until you board back to you country.
​
b) All international athletes are responsible for paying:
​
1. Any crew member and/or companions accepted by you. The payment have to be done directedly to the crew member and/or companions.
2. Any vehicle and/or insurance used during your stay in Brazil.
3. Transportation of gas during your stay in Brazil.
4. Accommodation for your Brazilian support team members while in Brazil.

6. REFUND POLICIES:

100% refund if cancelled before October 20th (minus U$25.00 platform refund fee)

Credit for next year if cancelled after October 20th;

7. IN CASE OF CANCELLATION OF THE RACE DUE TO ACTS OF GOD OR OTHER UNEXPECTED CIRCUMSTANCES:

In case of cancellation of the race, before the start or during the race by acts of God or other acts of any nature that put the health or life of the athletes at risk, your registration spot will be guaranteed for the next year's race:

- 50% (FIFTY) of the fees will be transferred as credit for the next year, if the cancellation happened before the start line.
- If the cancellation happens during the race, there will be no fees to be credited.
